What’s New in Eyewear Trends for Spring 2016

Eyewear Trends for 2015Thankfully, we’ve come a long way from the time when glasses were thought of as an unwanted necessity to aid a human imperfection. These days, eyeglasses are thought of as fashion accessories and every year, designers offer up a variety of new looks to choose from.

Let’s look at what’s new in eyewear trends for spring 2016.

FOR WOMEN

Pretty Pastels

Dusty shades of pink, baby blue, and lavender create a soft and ethereal feminine look this spring. This color palette embodies a sense of freedom and youth that is perfect for the free-spirited woman. You might want to try a matte blue frame with translucent peach sidebars or translucent cat eye frames in soft pale pink.

The hottest spring trends for 2016 feature bold colour patterns, opaque acetate, exaggerated cat eye frames and circular shapes.

Exaggerated Cat Eye

Always glamourous, over-sized cat eye frames never go out of style. This year, they are exaggerated and improved with modern touches, trimmings and vibrant colour choices. Keyhole and partial-rim frames make for a fashionable statement piece. Try exaggerated cat eye frames in a translucent jade green or dark caramel.

Pink Cat Eye

Various shades of pink like rose quartz will be everywhere this year. Try a pair of partial-rim cat eye frames with pink brow line detailing.

Opaque Acetate

Clear acetate frames, in a variety of colours, shapes and transparencies, continue to be a popular trend for spring 2016. They are streamlined, clean and modern, slightly updated this year with soft muted colours for feminine appeal.

For a high-fashion look, add a tinted or mirrored lens finish or try a semi-translucent frame in dusty rose or pale yellow.

Circular

Circular glasses have a ‘90s appeal. Round sunglasses merged with bold patterns, animal prints and fresh colours have a kind of edgy sophistication. Find them in black and white combinations, marble frames and new versions of the classic tortoiseshell pattern.

FOR MEN

This year’s selection of classic men’s styles has been inspired by global travelers and architectural elements. They have new details like exposed hardware and two-tone acetate frames.

Round Lens Aviator

The ever-popular aviator has been transformed with round lenses, metal bridges and transparent plastic frames. These are perfect for the fashion-forward man. You can get round lens aviators with mirrored lenses and wood-textured frames.

Browlines

The traditional browline frame has been updated for 2016 with metal details, bold colours, texture and architectural elements. The classic retro 1950s shape of the browline remains unchanged, but details like studs and coloured lenses update the look to modern. One example is blue browlines, embellished with studded metal detail on the sidebars.

Square Glasses

Square glasses are a timeless style that’s been popular with everyone from past presidents to hipsters. For 2016, two-tone acetate frames and keyhole accents add a sporty yet sophisticated distinction to the classic square shape. Try a pair of two-tone black and clear acetate frames.
